Guidelines for the preparation and the submission of abstracts

  • All abstracts must be submitted and presented in English.
  • Abstracts should contain original material neither published nor presented elsewhere prior to the congress.
  • Abstracts should be informative, containing objectives, methods, results and a conclusion.
  • The abstract text must be no longer than 3,000 characters, including spaces.

The abstract must follow the below suggestions:

  • Order: Title, authors and affiliations, abstract text, each separated by a line
  • Affiliations must be reported with numbers for example:
    M. Themeli*(1), L. Petrikkos(2), M. Waterhouse(2), H. Bertz (2), N. Zoumbos (1), J. Finke (2), A. Spyridonidis (1)
(1)University of Patras Medical School (Rion-Patras, GR); (2)Freiburg University Medical Center (Freiburg, DE)
  • The corresponding author should have an asterisk next to the name (see above example)
  • The title must be typed in capital letters
  • Tables, charts and other graphics are permitted and must be in JPG or GIF format, of high resolution and suitable for reproduction in black & white. A separate upload button is provided (max 2 graphics per abstract).
  • Avoid complex mathematical formulae, Greek letters and symbols. For the symbols ≤ or ≥ , type instead <= or >=. For superscript use caret (^) e.g. 10^6 instead of 106.
  • All abbreviations must be defined the first time they appear in your text. For example: Systemic Sclerosis (SSc), before being used as an abbreviation only.
  • If an abstract is accepted, the presenting author must register and attend the congress. Acceptance of a paper implies payment of the registration fee by the presenting author.
  • After having submitted your abstract, you will receive a confirmation by e-mail so please make sure to state your correct email address. This will include an access key with which you can re-enter should it be necessary to make corrections to an abstract already submitted or if you wish to submit other abstracts later. This will only be possible to use up until the abstract deadline date, 5 October 2009.
  • If you do not receive a confirmation of receipt of abstract by e-mail, please send an request with the object "confirmation abstract submission" and author name to the following recipient: abstracts@adflorence.org and you will be reconctacted.
  • If you have difficulties in submitting your abstracts or if you need any further information, please send an e-mail to abstracts@adflorence.org stating the difficulty you have encountered.
  • Abstracts are subject to approval by the scientific committee and to final assignment for inclusion in the programme.
